A North Carolina woman is trying to recover a lost $20,000 shipment of gold and silver coins that disappeared while in transit with FedEx.
Barb Kokotec shipped the package in late January, expecting delivery within days. Instead, four weeks later, it was reportedly stuck at the FedEx World Hub in Memphis. "We're out of pocket over $20,000 at this moment," Kokotec said, calling the situation "very, very stressful."
The shipment, intended for sale to JM Bullion, included gold and silver coins along with silver bars. After noticing delays, Kokotec contacted FedEx. On February 6, she was told the package had been located, but by February 27, it was still missing.
FOX13 has reported on lost shipments at the FedEx hub before, including cases of missing clothing orders. However, Kokotec emphasized that her case involves significant financial loss. "We just want what we worked for and earned and not to be out of pocket," she said.
FedEx issued a brief response, stating, “We will work directly with the customer on this issue.” The company has not provided further details on the package’s whereabouts.
Did she insure it?
