Comment: ESG Has a New Name, The Impact Economy
Starting to see the phrase “Impact Economy” more now in commentary on how we should allocate the world’s resources more efficiently.
This is the beginning of a rebranding of ESG and Net-Zero into a more palatable term given recent pushback on uneconomical behaviors surrounding green energy recently.
We are likely in the beginning of a push to redefine economics, the discipline itself, as a more ethically concerned social science.
By measuring the impact economy, economists will be given increasing latitude to factor in the effects on the globe, sustainability, and effects on humanity in general beyond the current numbers. It gives them a discretionary fudge factor and introduces more subjectivity into an already semi-soft science.
