Sell Hubris, Buy Humiliation

Housekeeping: This is Hartnett getting ready for full blown contrarian mode. Interestingly, he says to ultimately buy gold despite the obvious post-election de-grossing of fear hedges, along with Buy Treasuries at some point.

His big trade is going to be selling US stocks and buying the ROW if he is right. Mind you, when he’s right on these regression-to-the-mean type ideas, ultimately it is just sell the US that works. Let’s face it, the gap closes when we drop, not when the ROW rallies ultimately.

It’s early, but he is in sell “post election hubris” mode…. We shall see if he is on to something. The key “Event” for him will likely be post inauguration for testing his idea. We have time.. no rush if he is right.
