Founders PM: The Election Adds Uncertainty
Historically, Gold rallies during uncertainty and retreats harshly post resolution. Elections are no exception. Recall what happened in 2016 when Trump was elected. That was in no small part because the powers that be were on call to tamp down any untoward market reactions.
This time however, the election day will likely not bring finality.
One thing stated before:
Regardless of who wins, if either Trump or Biden *run*, the election will add to uncertainty. This election will be contested by the losing side if Trump or Biden run. Considering both will likely run, we thus assume a contested election.
TS Lombard quantifies that fear.
In this initial note we take stock of the top issues (primarily economic) on voters’ minds and highlight the biggest wild cards that could swing the race – both in the form of third-party candidates led by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK Jr.) and, in the post-election period, in the form of likely court cases and other challenges with the potential to trigger a constitutional crisis before Inauguration Day.
