Goldman Sachs believes China’s gold demand is far larger than official figures suggest, with substantial buying occurring through over-the-counter channels. The bank expects this physical demand to eventually outweigh temporary pressure from interest rates and yields. Its bullish outlook also depends on the view that the Federal Reserve will not raise rates, leaving gold undervalued despite the risk of further near-term weakness.
