Evening Recap: Precious Metals Lead in Otherwise Quiet Market
Most U.S. markets were relatively subdued today—except for precious metals. Gold finished the session up nearly 2%, rising $59 to close at $3,289. Silver gained 74 cents, or 2.3%, to settle at $33.08. Platinum outperformed all, surging 4.9% (or $49) to close at $1,048. Palladium also showed strength, finishing up nearly 4%. The only major metal that failed to participate was copper, which closed marginally above unchanged.
