We remain on recession watch, with last week’s data failing to dispel the idea that the US might be on the brink of something nasty. Meanwhile, freight experts are back in the press warning of “sudden stops” on imports from China, global supply-chain chaos (again…), and the prospect of “empty shelves” for US shoppers. Buy fewer plastic dolls ("let them eat cake") is Trump’s response.
