Good Afternoon. Our social media timelines and email inboxes are filled with BRICS Gold stuff today. The events in the Eastern part of the world are now filtering into main stream consciousness. Expect full blown media frenzy as this topic is now “hot”.

As the Aug 22nd BRICS annual meeting moves closer, dedollarization rhetoric has escalated, especially on the BRICS side. The focal point this week is the widely viewed RT channel, which while Russian owned, is as acceptable as any other MSM platform these days. Here is the video making the rounds in question:
There are two seemingly diametrically opposed opinions coming out of this.
The Brics are launching a Gold backed alternative to the USD.
The Brics have no immediate plans to launch a gold-backed alternative to the dollar
Keeping it simple. Both are True
The people saying there will be a launch now are mostly not reputable. Those that are reputable and saying it is possible are carefully parsing words
Saying there is going to be a launch gets more clicks than one saying there is not going to be a launch. Hence the news bias.
Why the contradictions?
Simple. Good cop bad cop. Russia, which likes to take the measure of its opponents with tactical PR is looking to get some feedback. The RT is as good as CNN is for the US in this regard.
China, the partner still negotiating with the West and normally reticent to convey their intentions until last minute are not interested in showing their hand.
Bottom Line.
We’ve been following this for months step by step. The BRICS likely have the necessary Tech, Gold, and architecture to do it in rudimentary fashion. They do not have the necessary qualified members to create the live network that will make it work yet. Moreover, to do so on such a stage would invite immediate problems from a genie out of a bottle. However, to threaten letting a genie out of a bottle, is good for negotiations.
