I would have drove the Gremlin to Vegas and blew the LOT. But that was THEN and THIS is NOW!

I’m a child of ‘65 and a silver stacker. Recall watching “The Price is Right” and other game shows.

Great post, VBL. Ty for the relevant trip down memory lane.

Heh, funny. It just shows what a dollar was worth back then too... Agreed, I would have sold the car and the vacation if I could for silver. I was born in 82, I wish I could go back even to the late 90s and early 2000s and made myself buy gold/silver. I'm all in on silver now after we sold our house a couple years ago, renting, and waiting for the housing market to collapse. Hopefully we can buy up something outright in a couple years when it hits bottom and have some left over for investment. I would hope $145k of silver will go somewhere upward in the next couple of years. We've at least gained nearly 20% since we bought it. :D

Good luck to you, Devin. I was left bereft of savings thanks to Canuckistan’s feminist divorce apparatus (sordid story). Like you, I have biased heavily towards silver with a view to the future.

To paraphrase Wayne Gretzky, skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it is.

Heh, sorry to hear that. Man I haven't heard the name Wayne Gretzky since I was a kid, funny.

Thanks VBL for the memories. In the summer of '73, my family was very flush with AMC Gremlin profits (with which, we escaped the '73-'74 recession) and took a cross-country trip to Vegas in an AMC Ambassador. My mother won a hundred silver dollars at Circus-Circus, which I still have today.
