Great write-up.

Whenever we hear the powers that be yell "we must save our democracy" the only retort should be "we'd rather save our republic" because we have no idea what their definition of democracy is, given their latest hobby is redefining words to fit their latest gimmick.

Very well written and absolute truth. The deterioration, the rot that has infected the U.S has been gradual but always in plain sight. Exporting U.S industry to become a consumer, service economy, crushing good paying blue collar jobs in exchange for exporting U.S treasuries to enrich a tiny financial sector, fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan for over twenty years without a successful conclusion only to now be told that war with Russia, China, Iran, is all but inevitable. Pouring billions into Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan for geopolitical reasons, while U.S high school students are unable to do basic math or even read. Lastly a national debt that is growing at an exponential rate all to keep the pyramid from collapsing. Many thanks Vince Lanci for your work and to people like you that continue to point to the fraud and hypocrisy that will drown us all in time.

I never believed their gaslighting nor do I believe that Baker was gaslit and fooled. The rats are jumping ship and gaslighting about it. Don't get mad. Get even.

Indeed, I agree 120%. The journos were all in on the shill and getting paid either with money or political favors.

“by perpetuating that fiction they were also revealing their contempt for the voters and for democracy itself”.

The first half of this Op-Ed is high powered. It could be sent to the Op-Ed desk of every country in the world. It might even buy us people on the street some empathy. Most of those global readers have probably experienced something similar.

But I'd cut it off after the paragraph 'Of course, Biden’s condition has been long known.' Then quit presenting more obscure facts and opinions and start presenting hope. "A kinder, gentler machine-gun hand."?

As a nation (a government) we have been a bully who's perhaps collected some grudges and enemies along the way. That's not say we are weak, or they are saints. Just to say that a big part of the world seems to want peace and prosperity. Perhaps we could beneficently encourage the same.

Edit: Oh sheesh, I thought you wrote this, Vince! ha, thanks for posting...
